When was the last time you trembled, not from fear, but from goodness?

Hosea 3:5 But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the LORD their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the LORD and of His goodness.

Tremble… in awe… of His goodness.

That phrase hits different, doesn’t it?

We expect people to tremble at power.
At judgment.
At fear.
At the holiness and majesty of God.

But trembling at His goodness? That’s not what we usually associate with reverence.

And yet, Hosea says that when people return to the Lord and devote themselves fully to Him, they won’t be crushed by fear. They’ll be undone by kindness.

It’s not just that God is good.
It’s that He’s been so good to people like us.

When I truly see how undeserving I am, and how unbelievably generous, patient, merciful, faithful, and loving He is, I don’t just nod my head in agreement.

I should tremble.

Not because I’m scared of Him, but because I’m in awe of Him.
Because His goodness should level me.
Because I know where I’d be without Him, and He came anyway.

It’s Romans 2:4 all over again:
“Can’t you see that His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?”

His kindness should stop me in my tracks.
His mercy should bring me to my knees.
His goodness should make me say, “Lord, You are better than I deserve, better than I can imagine, and I’m Yours.”

So ask yourself today:

Does God’s goodness still make me tremble?
Not with fear. But with awe.

Because if it doesn’t, maybe I’ve forgotten just how good He’s been.
