Bible Memory Challenge (2020)
Each month here at Element Church, as a part of our 2020 vision as a staff, I am challenging us to memorize one verse or passage of Scripture together. Each of the verses we memorize will be linked to one of our core values or a part of our vision statement. I would love for you to join us in this memory challenge.
In Psalm 119, King David says that by hiding God’s Word in our hearts, it can give us power over sin and temptation. We see this example in the life of Jesus, as well. Each time Jesus was tempted by satan, He responded with the Word of God. If Jesus used the Word of God, from memory, to combat sin and temptation, don’t you think we should too?
Here are the first two passages we have committed ourselves to memory:
Galatians 1:10 10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
Romans 12:4-5 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
This month, we will be memorizing Luke 5:31-32 31 Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. 32 I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”
This goes with our core value of “A place to call ‘Home’: We will love people for who they are so we can lead them to where they need to be.”
