How A Compassion Sponsor Inspired An Olympian
This past Sunday at Element Church was Compassion Sunday and it did not disappoint. What an incredibly inspiring and encouraging day as we highlighted and celebrated the global work of Compassion International.
Compassion is a child sponsorship organization that exists to help release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. They work with local churches on the ground, in the most impoverished parts of the world, connecting the sponsor’s dollar to the physical, educational and spiritual needs of the children who are ministered to in that church.
As of this past Sunday, Element Church sponsors 288 children through Compassion. To put that into perspective, that is $131,328 a year, above and beyond what is already given to God through Element, that is being invested into God’s Kingdom to the children who are in the most need.
Wess Stafford, President Emeritus of Compassion, was here on Sunday to deliver a powerful word from God. Not only did he share his inspirational story of how God brought Him to Compassion, but he did a masterful job connecting the dots to how each of us can be a part of a much greater story in a child’s life.
