I can do all things!

I can do all things!

Here is a Declaration of Truth I say over my life regularly:

I’ve got this, for I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!

But hang on, it’s not what you think it means.

Truth statements have become one of the key spiritual disciplines which help me replace the lies of the enemy with the Truth of God’s Word. Every one of my declarations is rooted in Scripture:

Philippians 2:12-13 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13 might be the most misused verse in all the Bible. At least the most taken out of context.

The context of this verse has nothing to do with accomplishing goals or dreams, overcoming obstacles, slaying giants, performing miracles, or whatever grandiose thing you want to add. It’s about enduring any situation.

Paul wrote this from a prison cell and it’s smack dab in the middle of some teaching on contentment. That whether I succeed or fail. Whether I’m rich or poor. Whether I conquer the obstacle or am crushed by it, I can do all things through Christ because I’ve learned to be content.

“I’ve got this, for I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

This is a powerful truth but be careful you don’t misuse it.

Don’t claim this verse for your next victory, claim it AS your victory. That no matter what happens, I’ve got this, because I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

Truth statements like these are much more than self-help or positive affirmations. Truth statements are just that…TRUTH!

Scripture tells us that the enemy is the father of lies. He uses those lies to distract us, derail us, and destroy us. The only way lies are defeated is by replacing them with Truth.

Say it! Believe it! Live it! I’ve got this, for I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
