Scripture Memory Challenge

Now, more than ever is a great time to be putting Scripture to memory.

Each month here at Element Church, as a part of our 2020 vision as a staff, I am challenging us to memorize one verse or passage of Scripture together. This month’s verse was our theme verse from the Fragile sermon series. For the rest of the year, we’re going to choose one verse from each sermon series to memorize. 

2 Corinthians 4:7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

Here are the first six passages we have committed to memory. Each one goes along with our core values:

Proverbs 11:25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. (Leading the way in generosity)

Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. (Obedience is our success)

Romans 12:4-5 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. (Better Together)

Luke 5:31-32 Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” (A place to call “Home”)

Luke 15:7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! (If only for the ONE)

Colossians 3:23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (It Matters)
